These pieces were made for 'Potluck', a group show curated by ShinYeon Moon at Land to Sea cafe.
In these pieces, Feast I and Feast II, we visit the lush, bursting, teeming, ripening gardens of the tropics. The transition from summer to a thunderous monsoon is one of my favorite seasons back at home, in India. In the dead of a New York winter, I day dream and yearn for this thick, humid weather that encourages growth and abundance. It’s easy to imagine a tropical feast and fantasy sitting from afar, but when I visit these wild spaces, I am reminded that to eat is also to be eaten.
We are all part of a food chain and to enjoy the pleasures of the feast is to contribute to the feast as well.
