Stamp-ons is a fun way to learn science.
This set of Stamp-ons includes human cells and cell organelles.
Stamp-ons can also be used to create non-linear patterns,
for both educational and artistic purposes.
Stamp-ons consists of two different types of stamps.
A set of cell structures : A mother cell, splitting cell and smaller daughter cells.
A set of small, intricate cell organelles :
The nucleus, vacuole, endoplasmic reticulum, golgi bodies and mitochondria.
Since the cells are human cells, i decided to create a very tactile experience for creating patterns. I created small adjustable rings to be worn on the fingertips.
Fingertips are highly sensitive and I thought using the cell organelles on the fingertips would be suggestive of the complex, sensitive and intricate systems at work within our bodies.
The rings are made from soft wire and are adjustable,
so that they can be worn by anyone.
To keep this game fun and interactive, using the stamps on the fingertips automatically creates a non-linear way of making prints.
The user has to simply stamp the larger cell blacks and simply put on the fingertip rings and move their fingers rhythmically to create patterns
Stamp-ons : 'stamp + 'tampon'(french for stamp)
The entire set.
I used bright and appealing colours.
Orange for the base stamps and yellow for the interior organelles.
The cell organelles
The stamps can be used in a variety of colours for various purposes.
Here, Stamp-ons have been used to create
hand made gift-tags and business cards.
Making actual prints creates variety and feels more personalised.
The prints can be used to make
wrapping papers, notebook covers and any kind of artworks.
